Learnifier is in a scale-up phase and we are now looking for one more Backend Engineer in Stockholm to boost our teams and help us through sound technical implementations.

Your role

As a Backend Engineer at Learnifier, you will drive the development of robust, scalable backend services using modern Java frameworks, while ensuring seamless integration with our cloud infrastructure on AWS. You’re a senior developer and technical mentor: you enjoy tackling complex challenges, architecting efficient systems, and sharing your knowledge with teammates around key backend and DevOps topics such as CI/CD, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code.

You are committed to producing reliable, maintainable backend code and have a track record of designing, testing, and deploying cloud-ready applications. You engage in constructive code reviews, viewing them as crucial for maintaining high technical standards and fostering collective growth.

You have experience seeing large backend projects through all stages, from concept and design to deployment and ongoing operation—in partnership with DevOps and technical teams, ensuring reliable deliverables and continuous improvement.

Experiences and skills

• Highly experienced in backend development with Java (Spring Boot or similar frameworks).
• Skilled in building, optimizing, and maintaining backend services and APIs, ensuring they are scalable, robust, and reliable.
• Proficient in designing and working with relational and non-relational databases.
• Experienced in writing automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to deliver quality and maintainable code.
• Proven competence delivering backend solutions on cloud platforms, preferably AWS and OpenStack
• Comfortable collaborating on architecture, design, and implementation with technical stakeholders.

Preferred experiences and technologies

• Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or GitHub Actions).
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Ansible or Terraform).
• Experience designing and deploying microservices or distributed backend systems.
• Background in monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.
• Exposure to cloud security best practices within AWS and OpenStack
• Experience in collaborative agile product teams.

• Partner with Product Managers to refine and maintain a technical backlog.
• Decompose projects into actionable, valuable deliverables.
• Mentor and support fellow backend engineers.

• Provide guidance on backend and DevOps topics, fostering a learning culture.
